Merzouga is the gateway to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, Morocco's highest, rising to 150 metres. It is the picture-postcard Moroccan Sahara: waves of ochre sand as far as the eye can see.
People come for the night at a bivouac, the camel ride up the dunes at sunset, daybreak over the erg and an exceptional starry sky.

Frequently asked questions
How many days do we allow for Merzouga?
Three days and two nights from Marrakech or Fez, including a night at a bivouac. Two days if we set off from Errachidia.
Which season do we choose?
October to April: mild days and cool nights. We do not schedule the desert in July or August, it is simply too hot.
Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga?
Chebbi (Merzouga) is easier to reach and utterly spectacular; Chigaga (Zagora) is wilder and more remote, by 4x4. We steer you according to the pace you want.
